Kisii DG: Publication on Vacancy Halted by Court Order
The High Court Wednesday put a temporary hold on the official announcement of a vacant Deputy Governor position following the impeachment of Dr. Robert Monda by the Senate last week.
This development comes after Jared Mairura Ratemo filed a petition against the Senate’s decision at the Machakos High Court on Wednesday. Justice Olei Francis Rayola ruled that the publication declaring the position empty is suspended until the matter is heard at the Milimani Commercial Court in April.
The judge acknowledged that the case involves the Senate and Kisii County Assembly, making the Machakos High Court an unsuitable venue. Therefore, the case will be transferred to Justice Eric Ogola at Milimani for a hearing on April 10, 2024.
