United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Hassan Omar has launched a scathing attack on his predecessor, Cleophas Malala, dismissing recent allegations as baseless and politically motivated.
Omar categorically denied claims by Malala that he was unfairly ousted from the party leadership, insisting the decision was justified due to incompetence. He also dismissed allegations of an impeachment plot against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, labeling them as “political shenanigans” aimed at garnering sympathy.
The UDA chief accused Malala of dragging the names of party chairperson Cecily Mbarire and Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah into the controversy, warning of stern action against the former senator.
“We find it unacceptable for Malala to involve the party leadership in his unfounded claims,” Omar stated. “His actions are unbecoming of a former party official and will not be tolerated.”
Omar defended the party’s decision to remove Malala, citing a series of missteps during his tenure. He emphasized UDA’s commitment to progress and transformation, asserting that the party would not be deterred by “political novices.”
The UDA Founders Association has also condemned Malala’s remarks, calling for disciplinary action.
