President Ruto Calls for Unity During Christmas
President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto delivered a Christmas message to the nation Sunday, calling for unity, compassion, and optimism as Kenyans celebrate the holiday season.
In a heartfelt video message, the First Family emphasized the importance of coming together during this festive time. “Let us extend a loving hand, share kind words, offer warm meals, and exchange thoughtful gifts with our brothers and sisters in need,” President Ruto said.
He encouraged Kenyans to look forward to the new year with hope, anticipating progress and shared prosperity. “May the upcoming year bring you tranquility, happiness, and fulfillment,” he added.
First Lady Rachel echoed her husband’s sentiments, urging Kenyans to “treasure the connections that make us a resilient and vibrant nation.” She expressed optimism for a brighter future and called for generosity towards the less fortunate.
“The spirit of Christmas is one of generosity, love, and community,” she said. “By supporting those around us, we amplify joy and blessings.”
Earlier this week, the President and First Lady hosted a Christmas party for children at the State House, further solidifying their message of unity and celebration. “This is a season of celebration, generosity and kindness as we build our family, friendship and community bonds,” the President said.
DP Gachagua Throws Christmas Party for Nyeri Residents
Thousands of children in Nyeri County had a Christmas to remember as Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, hosted a festive fun day at their rural home in Mathira on Tuesday.
Over 4,000 children filled the residence with laughter and joy as they participated in a variety of exciting activities, including live music and dance performances.
The event fulfilled a promise made by the Deputy President in October during a development tour in the Mount Kenya region. He emphasized the importance of community engagement and fostering positive relationships between the police and the public.
“I am happy that police officers volunteered to entertain the children,” said the Deputy President. “We have a police service that serves the people, a service that is friendly to everybody. That is the reason we have police officers here today mingling with children, showing them love, care and entertaining them and interacting with them. Because it is no longer a police force but a service. I am happy officers have spent time playing with you, playing with you and taking care of you. That is modern Kenya.”
Gachagua and Pastor Dorcas also took the opportunity to connect with the children personally, spending time playing with them and participating in the festivities. The Deputy President also assured the children that their education is a priority for the Kenya Kwanza administration.
“We love the children and we wish them the best,” he said. “President William Ruto and I have gone out of our way to secure future of the Kenyan children because this generation is Kenya, our country is the young people.
It is the reason the President formed a presidential working party to streamline the CBC and reform other education programs to align them with what is good for our children. Our government has also employed 56,000 teachers to improve the pupil-teacher pupil.”
Pastor Dorcas expressed her delight in hosting the event and promised to make it an annual tradition.
“We are excited to be with you today,” she said. “We want children to enjoy themselves. We wish all Kenyan children a joyous Christmas and a prosperous New Year. Nobody should mess with your lives. We pray that God’s enduring and unconditional love continues to strengthen and inspire us.”
