A Manhattan, New Yok grand jury has indicted former US President Donald Trump. But the charges are still unknown because the indictment was filed under seal.
Joe Tacopina, a former Trump lawyer, told Fox News the indictment came as a shock to Trump, and they both learned about it through the media.
Some media reports stated Trump had developed a sense of confidence after Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg failed to file an indictment last week as he had predicted. Some say, Trump was even under the impression that he had beat back the indictment and Bragg had backed down.
The indictment comes almost two weeks after Trump incorrectly predicted he’d be indicted on Tuesday, March 21, using the opportunity to raise money for his campaign.
His arraignment, however, is scheduled for April 4, a Tuesday.
The move is expected to be a spectacular event never seen in US history. Trump would be the first US President indicted, and as a former President, he’ll be accompanied by his Secret Service security detail.
But there’s speculation he might not turn himself in, opting instead to hole himself up at his Florida Palm Beach golf resort home in Mar-a-Lago. If he chooses this option, he’ll rely on amnesty from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, his main rival in the GOP primary, whom Trump has nicknamed Ron DeSanctimonious.
When news about Trump’s indictment broke, DeSantis took to Twitter and said he’d not assist in extraditing Trump for arraignment in New York.
“The weaponization of the legal system to advance a political agenda turns the rule of law on its head. It is un-American,”DeSantis tweeted. “The Soros-backed Manhattan District Attorney has consistently bent the law to downgrade felonies and to excuse criminal misconduct. Yet, now he is stretching the law to target a political opponent. Florida will not assist in an extradition request given the questionable circumstances at issue with this Soros-backed Manhattan prosecutor and his political agenda.”
But others, like Trump’s niece Mary L. Trump, have celebrated Trump’s indictment.
“It’s official: Donald Trump is the: 1st man in the Oval Office to be impeached twice 1st man in the Oval Office to incite an insurrection 1st to lose the popular vote TWICE and now, the first to be INDICTED,”Mary L. Trump tweeted.
The indictment is a rare moment for Trump, whom many people call Teflon Don because he seems to escape accountability for actions many consider criminal.
Using incendiary language posted on his social media Truth Social, Trump referred to the prosecutors as “these thugs and radical left monsters,” a statement many perceive as a racist dog whistle rallying of his supporters against Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, a Black man, and the first man in US history to indict a president.
While the indictment has not been officially unsealed, reports on various social media indicate that Trump has been indicted on at least 34 counts, much larger charges than many perceived.
“We now heard 34 counts, and I guarantee you it’s going to be 34 counts when we find out next week,” Tacopina said. “They’ll take each check and make that a count, perhaps, and that’s how they’ll do it because the checks are paid to Cohen.”
News reports have speculated that Trump was likely to be indicted for violating campaign finance laws stemming from his hush-money payment to pornstar Stormy Daniels, with whom he had an affair.
Trump’s former lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen was found guilty of facilitating the payment and served a3-yearsentence. Notably, Cohen was charged by Trump’s justice department, headed by Attorney General William Barr, where Trump was referred to as Individual 1.
It’s ironic that Trump, who led a campaign to send former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to Prison but is the one facing jail time.

Stormy Daniels burns Trump supporter on Twitter
The adult film star who was paid $130,000 hush money just a month before the 2016 election to keep her mouth shut about an alleged affair with Trump appeared to be celebrating and selling her merchandise.
“Thank you everyone for your support and love. I have so many messages coming in that I can’t respond… Also I don’t want to spill my champagne,” Daniels tweeted.
