Kenyan content creators now have the opportunity to monetize their original videos on Facebook, thanks to Meta’s recent announcement on Tuesday. The social media giant has introduced in-stream ads and ads on Facebook Reels, opening new revenue streams for creators.
In-stream ads will play before, during, or after on-demand videos, including pre-recorded content and published recordings of previous live streams. This feature allows content creators to earn money based on the performance of their videos.
Meanwhile, ads on Facebook Reels will be integrated into original Reels, providing creators with another avenue to get paid while keeping their followers entertained. This initiative is part of Meta’s effort to support and enhance the creative industry in Kenya.
To access these monetization tools, creators must comply with Facebook’s Partner Monetisation Policies and Content Monetisation Policies and be at least 18 years old. Additionally, for in-stream ads, creators need to meet specific eligibility criteria, such as having a minimum of 5,000 followers.
“This expansion will empower eligible creators in the vibrant creative industry in Kenya to earn money, setting a high bar for creativity globally and establishing Meta and its family of apps as the go-to platform for all creators,” said Moon Baz, Meta’s Global Partnerships Lead for Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey.
