Kalonzo Predicts One-Term Presidency for Ruto
Wiper Democratic Movement Party Leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, Wednesday foretold President William Ruto’s impending fate of becoming a one-term President in the forthcoming general elections of 2027.
Addressing a gathering of Tharaka Nithi political delegates in Mwingi town on Wednesday, Musyoka once again said he is ready to liberate Kenyans from what he described as the prevailing ‘oppressive leadership’ in Kenya.
“Raila Odinga stands as our party leader. The deputy party leader of Azimio la Umoja One Kenya is Martha Wangari Karua. However, when Raila is absent, we must reorganize. I stand prepared to lead the opposition in this nation until we salvage Kenya,” Musyoka said.
Drawing parallels to the 2002 elections when Former President Uhuru Kenyatta faced defeat, Musyoka confidently stated, “If Moi supported Uhuru and we emerged victorious, this time it will be akin to 2002 squared.”
Musyoka also criticized the government’s implementation of new taxes, and urged fellow leaders to take action for the betterment of current and future generations.
“Addressing the Mama Mbogas and bodaboda operators with empty promises, where is the electricity for these electric motorcycles?” Musyoka questioned.
Waiganjo Acquitted of Impersonating Police
Joshua Waiganjo, who faced accusations of impersonating senior police officers over a decade ago, was finally acquitted of all charges on Thursday by a Naivasha court. This ends a lengthy legal battle that has spanned 11 years.
Waiganjo was initially charged with four counts of impersonation, illegal possession of police uniforms, and two robberies with violence. However, Naivasha Chief Magistrate Nathan Lutta referenced a 2017 Court of Appeal ruling that had already ordered his release.
The earlier ruling dismissed the robbery charges due to the absence of witnesses. However, Waiganjo did receive sentences for impersonation and uniform possession during the initial trial. These sentences were appealed, leading to a retrial and eventually, the 2017 dismissal by the Court of Appeal which cited a lack of legal basis for the case.
“The court is bound by the doctrine of Stare Decisis,” stated Magistrate Lutta, referring to the legal principle of following precedent. “The accused is hereby released.”
This verdict brings an end to a long and frustrating ordeal for Waiganjo.
