Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua Tuesday called on leaders to prioritize service delivery over engaging in succession politics. Speaking at the burial of Julius Kano Ndumbi, a former Principal of Kianyaga High School in Gichugu, Gachagua stressed the importance of unity and collaboration among leaders for the benefit of the people.
“Those discussing future political positions should cease. Only God knows who will become what in 2032, so let’s remain united,” Gachagua said.
He also talked about the necessity for leaders to focus on service delivery and promote peace and unity. In addition, he warned that division among the people would hinder their chances of experiencing effective leadership in the future. “If you agree to be divided, leadership will be something you’ll only see on Viusasa.”
The Deputy President recalled the hardships the region faced during former President Daniel Moi’s tenure due to internal divisions and vowed to prevent any such division under his watch.”Those attempting to divide our people can continue their efforts, but we will not allow it. Our people are wise and aware of what’s happening,” he said.
“In 2002, we united behind Mwai Kibaki, and similarly in 2007 and 2013 during the Uhuru regime. We must agree on our direction moving forward,” he added.
