Bob Lee, the founder of payment and money transfer company Cash App died on Tuesday after suffering multiple stab wounds.
According to NBC, San Francisco police responded to a stabbing report at around 2.35 a.m. Tuesday. Upon arrival, they found the 43-year-old tech executive and a father of two, with multiple life-threatening stab wounds. He was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to the injuries.
His father, Rick Lee, posted a heartbreaking tribute to his son, describing him as his best friend and a selfless person who treated everyone with respect.
“I just lost my best friend, my son Bob Lee when he lost his life on the street in San Francisco early Tuesday Morning,” Rick Lee said. “He would never look down on anyone and adhered to a strict no-judgment philosophy. Bobby worked harder than anyone and was the smartest person I have ever known. He will be missed by all those that knew him.”
Cash App is one of the most popular money transfer apps many Africans in the diaspora use for fundraisers.
San Francisco PD released the following statement:
On April 4, 2023, at approximately 2:35 a.m., San Francisco Police officers from Southern Station responded to the 300 block of Main Street for a report of a stabbing.
Officers arrived on scene and located a 43-year-old adult male victim suffering from apparent stab wounds. Officers rendered aid and summoned medics to the scene.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite efforts by first responders and medical personnel, the victim succumbed to his injuries.
Police have not disclosed a motive for the deadly assault, and no arrests have been made.
