British longest-serving monarch Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II died peacefully at Balmoral Castle after reigning for 70 years. She was 96.
Elizabeth became queen at 25 after her father, King George IV, died while she was on a Safari in Kenya.
Her son, Charles, 73, now rises to become King.
The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.

She had three sons, Charles, Andrew, Edward, and a daughter, Anne. She also had eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
News about her final moments alive trickled in early Thursday when her doctors reported they were concerned about her health. Signs that she was reaching the end of her reign were bolstered with news that members of the British Royal family were all headed to Balmoral castle, where she was resting.
Her last official act was appointing the new UK Prime Minister Liz Truss on September 6th.
She’s credited for modernizing the monarchy and has reigned through a World War, appointed 15 British Prime Ministers, met 5 Popes, 14 US presidents, and four Kenyan presidents.
At 21, Elizabeth, then Princess, won hearts with her statement offering her life to serve the Commonwealth.
“I declare before you all that my whole life whether it be long or short shall be devoted to your service,” Princess Elizabeth On her twenty-first birthday, in a speech broadcast on the radio from Cape Town, The Queen dedicated her life to the service of the Commonwealth.
She lived up to her promise.
President Uhuru Kenyatta mourned Elizabeth and described as a selfless leader.
“Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was a towering icon of selfless service to humanity and a key figurehead of not only the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth of Nations where Kenya is a distinguished member but the entire world,” President Kenyatta mourned.
The Royal Family announced the queen’s death in a tweet Thursday, and messages of condolences continue to come throughout the world.
